Cystic Fibrosis

Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease that causes thick mucus to clog the lungs and digestive system.  This leads to frequent lung infections, digestive problems, slow growth, and malnutrition.

Symptoms

The symptoms of cystic fibrosis can range from mild to severe.

• Excessive mucus in lungs
• Coughing or wheezing
• Frequent respiratory infections
• Poor growth
• Infertility in males

• Family history
• High-risk Populations
  • Caucasian
  • Ashkenazi (Eastern European) Jewish
  • Males with infertility due to absent vas deferens (CBAVD)
