Stomach Cancer

Stomach cancer is cancer that starts in the stomach. It is also called gastric cancer. Most stomach cancers do not run in the family, but some stomach cancers are hereditary.

Symptoms

  • Indigestion or heartburn
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea or constipation
  • Unexplained weight loss

Causes/Risk Factors

  • Diet high in dried, smoked, or salted foods
  • Certain bacterial infections
  • Tobacco and alcohol
  • Family history of stomach cancer
  • Genetic mutations (see below)
