Lung Cancer

Lung cancer is one of the most common cancers and is the leading cause of cancer death in both men and women. Lung cancer is most often caused by smoking or other environmental exposures and is usually not hereditary.

Symptoms

  • Fatigue
  • Cough or shortness of breath
  • Chest pain
  • Coughing up phlegm, mucus, or blood
  • Loss of appetite

Causes/Risk Factors

  • Smoking
  • Exposure to asbestos or radon
  • Family history
  • Genetic mutations (see below)
